The song i chose was drake look what you've done. i chose this song because of its use of samples and complex vocal effects.
In the first lesson i started to remake the song. The first thing i started with was finding the sample, the original song used a sample called "old playa footage". I found this sample on youtube and then downloaded it. once i had the song i took 4 bars of the song. To insure that the sample would be in time with the rest of the song i had to find the original tempo of the song which was about 80bpm after i found the tempo i used a tool called flex time. Flex time flexes the audio track to make the audio in time. Finally I had my sample ready so i changed the tempo of the session from 80bmp to 130 bmp which is the tempo of Drakes look what you've done.

By the second week i had my 4 bar sample which i had speed up using flextime but the it was only 4 bars, so in order to make this short phrase a full song i had to use a tool called looping. looping is a tool in logic which allows you to repeat a section as many times as you want which ultimately creates a loop.

My original plan was to use the orignal song from youtube however i realised that i would be able to get the best quality if i was to actually play the piano myself. This also means that the piano section will actually be on time because i will be able to play with a tempo.

On wednesday i started to plan what microphones i would use to mic my drum kit. I decided i would only record my drums one at a time, starting with my kick drum. I thought using a sm57 but i decided that the 57 did not have a high bass frequency so i decided to a audix d6 microphone because it has more prencence in the lower frequencies.
wednesday the 28th
on wednesday we started to record our microphones rather than using a audix d6 microphone to record my drums i used a --------- this is because the we onlu had one audix and i thought that the d6 would sound beast on my snare drum. i also used a sure sm58 on my hi hat for its wide range.
